State and Federal Incentives
Uncle Sam Wants You to make energy.
Government incentives will pay the majority of the cost of a new PV solar installation, in most cases. There are federal and state incentives available for all types of solar users – residential, businesses, government, and nonprofit.
Federal and state policies are firmly focused on promoting renewable energy, creating green-collar jobs, and reducing carbon emissions. The government wants you to make this happen by generating renewable energy in your home and workplace.
Each state offers a different basket of incentives. Most grant programs are applied to the upfront gross cost of your installation. See the detailed information at the US Department of Energy’s state-by-state guide. (link)
The federal government offers tax credits and very attractive accelerated depreciation rules. (link) Stimulus funds to encourage the green economy are also being distributed to the states as incentives for renewable energy.
